Canadore College Program
– Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence and Pilot Preparedness Program.
Our flight training program at Canadore College has been operating since 1971 and prepares students for an exciting career in the aviation industry. This unique partnership provides student with a combination of Transport Canada Flight training requirements as well as a Canadore College Certificate in numerous operational courses.
The Canadore College helicopter flight training program offers one course per year on a full time basis. The program is a two semester course that commences in September and is tentatively completed at the end of April to mid May .
Helicopter flight training and becoming a Professional Pilot is challenging and exciting - but it also requires hard work and dedication.
Course costs are based on Transport Canada MINIMUM flight requirements.
As a student you will be involved in the multiple daily tasks plus all other aspects pertaining to the duties of a pilot. You will benefit from the highest level of training thanks to our qualified and experienced instructors who have accumulated thousands of flying hours all across Canada.
Ground school is intensive and covers all required aspects of helicopter operations. A variety of additional operational training subjects provide the students with a balanced ground school training program.
Emphasis in this program is the full picture or both sides of a scenario so that students can appreciate why they do what they do when they do it.
Successful Applicants will be participating in strenuous physical activities such as helicopter log pad construction, chain saw operation, underwater egress training, winter survival program and winter helicopter operations.
Graduates from the program will receive a Canadore College Pilot Preparedness Certificate and a Transport Canada Commercial Pilot License-Helicopter as well as numerous industry recognized certificates.
Our training fleet consists of Schweizer 300 piston helicopters - a helicopter designed and built for flight training; and Bell 206 turbine Jet Ranger helicopters - the most utilized helicopter in the industry.
